My 12 Skincare Insights in 2018

I think the saying that “the only thing that doesn’t change is the change itself” is very true indeed. This applies to my skincare passion. I started off in this journey with local brands like Nano White, Hada Labo, and all the way to k-beauty like Nature Republic, Innisfree, Laneige, Belif, Sulwhasoo, Primera and many more. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun in the process. However, I can’t keep testing out everything forever just for the sake of trying, because that would mean I don’t really learn something from it. In fact, I tried to explore things that I have never thought of, like minimalism. I also go back to my old habits of reading and baking. I must admit that I am slowing down on skincare and beauty, for a good reason.

In this post, I’m gonna share some of the things I learned from my skincare journey in 2018.

Review: The Face Shop Yehwadam Heaven Grade Ginseng Rejuvenating Toner, Serum, Eye Cream and Eye Cream

Great news for any ginseng or oriental herbs lovers because now you can get these luxurious ingredients at reasonable prices from THE FACE SHOP!

Actually, I am not new to ginseng, peony, lotus or any similar oriental ingredients for anti-aging and anti-wrinkles benefits. I have tried many Sulwhasoo products before, and they were great at producing ginseng products. The downside, of course, is the higher price tag. I also wrote about THE FACE SHOP's sister company, The History of Whoo's star products the Bichup line 2 years ago, and had received overwhelming responses over that one. Many people asked me where can they find similar products at cheaper price.

So, I am pretty excited when THE FACE SHOP sent me their recently launched reformulated Yehwadam Heaven Grade Ginseng Rejuvenating products! Not only are the packaging better, with more Royal Palace like design, the scent and the texture also have close resemblance to the Bichup line.

After using them for about 2 months from the day of receiving it, I think it is safe to call them a more nourishing and mature skin-targeted skincare line for any hanbang lovers like myself!

THE FACE SHOP actually puts a lot of efforts into the packaging which you can see. Unboxing is a joy.

I love the red brownish design of the boxes!

All four products lied neatly inside the box!

I actually recycled the boxes as stationery and miniatures holders. The boxes are so pretty that you won't want to throw away at all!

Review: Missha All Around Safe Block Essence Sun SPF45 PA+++

I have had good experiences with Missha sunscreen so when I see this on sales at Gmarket, I am more than happy to give this one a try. The one I have tried before is the blue Sun Aqua Gel. This pink one is called a Sun Essence, which I think carries more skin-benefiting ingredients at richer consistency. I also bought the Sun Water, which I am so curious about. I will talk about that one later. For now, let’s look at this Sun Essence that I have been using deliberately in the past one month!

Review: Make P:rem Comfort Air Mask

I bought this Make P:rem Comfort Air Mask a while ago from Althea. I was pretty in love with Make P:rem back then so I was keen to give its sheet mask a try.

10 Things I Never Repurchase in 2018

If you read my previous reviews, you'll know that my skincare mindset has changed dramatically ever since I moved houses and bumped into the idea of skincare minimalism. I no longer crave for newer, fancier skincare releases. I am more concerned about minimizing things that I put on my face, as opposed to maximizing it with 10-step skincare routines. As such, in this review, I'm gonna list down 10 things I have stopped repurchasing ever since adopting a more minimalist skincare practices.

Review: Missha Safe Block Airy Sun Water SPF50+ PA++++

Don’t we all hate sunscreen that is rich and sticky, and are reluctant to put it on our faces although we know how important sunscreen is to us? Missha did a breakthrough this time to introduce us the Airy Sun Water SPF50+ PA++++ that can also function as a primer. It is essentially the first sun water that is brought to my attention when I was window shopping on Gmarket website. Intrigued, I decided to give it a try.
