Review: Belif The True Decoction - Firming Essence

I just finished using the five Belif Firming Essences I got as Gift with Purchases earlier, which made up a full size bottle of the Firming Essence, so I am pretty excited to share my thoughts on it with you guys!

I recalled I was quite excited when Belif came out with its True Decoction Line. It was said to be a form of herbal brewing technique that extracts essences using slow brewing method. Doing so will allow all the nutrients and essential components are collected without wasting any of them. This Firming Essence is one of the core products Belif was promoting when it launched the The True Decoction Line!

Many of you may ask, so what makes this difference from the Peat Miracle Line? Well, the extraction processes are difference. Peat is collected from the pristine peat land whereas Decoction is made by brewing herbal roots on slow fire. Peat is more for wrinkles improvements whereas Decoction targets skin elasticity and firmness.

The official website claims that this is a “firming energy essence” that will help to tighten and firm up sagging skin. It is meant for those in their early 30s where age factor kicks in and collagen synthesis is slowing down. Its unique Herbal Collagen Peptide also serves to enhance collagen synthesis of the skin and increase the inner skin firmness up to 90%!

The texture of this essence is also pretty interesting. It comes in a fun, bouncy and chewy gel with a lot of “energy” in it. Despite its bouncy texture, this essence is not heavy at all! In fact, it spreads well on the skin and is easily absorbed by the skin without leaving any stickiness or tackiness. I am impressed!

PERFORMANCE

Performance-wise, I think it does a good job moisturizing and “sticking” my skin cells together. My skin feels a lot more elastic, resilient and bouncy after using this for a prolonged period. I can’t really say there is a firming effect because honestly speaking I did not measure my skin using a measuring tape. However, I do feel that my skin is much firmer (seriously, you can feel when your skin is “swollen” or “firmer”, even without looking at the mirror, you can feel it when your cells are saturated with liquids or that your skin is so loose that they cannot come together and stay bouncy!). It is also better moisturized and is less prone to any dryness-causing itchiness or irritation.

CONCLUSION

In short, I love this Firming Essence and would strongly recommend it to any individuals in their 25-35 who want to kickstart their anti-aging regime. I think this works better than Laneige Perfect Renew Essence and Time Freeze Essence, although I only used several samples of the latter (about 12ml for Perfect Renew and 5ml for Time Freeze). The price is of course higher than Laneige but the good news is… Belif is coming down with a lot of promotional activities after they changed their Brand Manager (or Marketing Manager?) recently, which you can see in their website! (I was wishing that she came when I was crazy for Belif and spent a fortune there! Gosh!). Anyway, definitely a good product that I would repurchase in the future!
