Comparison Review: Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum 2018

One thing good about the kbeauty industry is that they are constantly innovating and improving. They will keep testing and upgrading their products to deliver only the best for their customers. Recently, one of my favourite brands Innisfree just upgraded and revamped its best-selling green tea line, especially its number one best-selling Green Tea Seed Serum, which I am really excited to give it a try!

This is not my first Green Tea Seed Serum. I finished at least 3 bottles of it and am now into my four with this 2018 upgraded formula. I found it sticky at first, before learning to apply it on a damp face. It is a milder and cheaper version of Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum EX, and can help to smooth and soften the skin. It quenches my skin of thirst and supplies it with loads of antioxidants and nutrients. I am really in love with it!

So what are the differences between this and the older formulation?

This has darker green colour. It also comes with complimentary toner, lotion, eye cream and cream. Other than that, there is any fundamental difference between both products.

(2018 formula)
Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (77.99%), Propanediol, Alcohol, Glycerin, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Saccharide Isomerate, Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil, Cetearyl Olivate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sorbitan Olivate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Fragrance / Parfum, Panthenol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Tromethamine, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Disodium Edta, Ethylhexylglycerin, Dextrin, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Sorbitan Isostearate, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Sucrose

(Older Formula)
The green Tea Extract (75.9%), Propanediol, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Ethanol, Glycerin, Betaine, The green Tea Seed Oil (208mg), Prickly Pear Extract, Orchid Extract, Tangerine Peel Extract, Camellia Leaf Extract, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia Extract, Grapefruit Extract, Orange Extract, Tangerine Extract, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Cetearyl Olivate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sorbitan Olivate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Cocoa Extract, Dextrin, Potassium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance

The skeleton looks highly similar, except that this contains lesser of other unnecessary Jeju essences (like orchid, tangerine peel, camellia and all others), but more of skin soothing and moisturizing additives. This also has cocoa extract added to it for blood circulation improving properties.

Like all new formula, this promises:

  • 3.5x more hydrating than the older formula
  • uses double squeeze method to ensure all active ingredients and nutrition are fully extracted
  • enhanced dual-moisture-rising technology that strengthens your skin's barrier and retaining the moisture on your skin

2018 formula

older formulation

It feels and looks the same but you can actually tell that the 2018 version is a lot lighter, easier to absorb, and non-sticky. Surprisingly, it is much more hydrating and can reach deeper layer of your skin!

I love the new formulation! I love how hydrating and refreshing it feels on my skin. And how the serum leaves my skin feeling hydrated, drenched, and silky soft! It is definitely an improved version from the older formula. I didn't use it enough to see any real efficacy or actual differences yet so I cannot comment on that. I will come back with more reviews when I used it enough.

Until then, see you guys soon!
