Review: Laneige Homme Active Water Skin

I bought this Laneige Homme Active Water Skin for my bf when he ran out of his Belif Eucalyptus Herbal Extract Toner. He likes Belif but he thinks it is good to try out something new once in a while so I got him this Laneige Homme toner when it was first launched in end-2017. I tried it out in the store and really loved the unique masculine scent and its hydrating and refreshing texture.

Below are his thoughts after using it for about 5 months now (and almost finish using it).

Laneige Homme Active Water Skin comes packed in a blue plastic bottle with a twist-open cap. It has a very nice scent like men perfume. It is something both men and women will like.

Laneige claims that this is a hydrating toner meant for rough and dehydrated skin. It will hydrate, soothe and cool the skin. It is suitable for all skin types, though I personally think this will suit those with combination to oily as well as dehydrated skin better.

The product feels like plain water. You can either apply it on a cotton pad or hand. My lazy bf only uses it on his bare hand. Sometimes he will even skip moisturizer (Gel Cream of the same skincare line) and go straight to bed

INGREDIENTS

Water, Alcohol, Dipropylene Glycol, Glycerin, Peg/Ppg-17/6 Copolymer, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Octyldodeceth-16, Fragrance, Sea Water, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Butylene Glycol, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Magnesium Aspartate, Zinc Gluconate, Calcium Gluconate, Copper Gluconate

INGREDIENTS ANALYSIS

This is mainly a watery toner made of water, alcohol, and lightweight humectant. This also has seawater and many minerals in it to recharge and boost up the skin. Alcohol is the second main ingredient, which may make it a bit drying for those sensitive to alcohol. But alcohol is a lightweight solvent and it will give a refreshing sensation which may make it appealing to many ppl who favour lightweight and refreshing toner. I think the zinc in here plays a great role in giving myself the kind of energy and mattifying effect without being drying that my bf enjoys.

PERFORMANCE

I can tell that he loves this because he told me he wanted to repurchase another bottle. Also this is the first time he finishes up a skincare product so quick! He said this stuff is great for morning and night. One is enough to keep his skin happy for the whole day. He feels hydrated, comfortable and his skin is less likely to produce oil too! However, I do observe that he is more prone to clogged pores and blackheads after using this too, so I think this doesn't help on those issues.

CONCLUSION

A nice hydrating toner for men skin as it contains loads of minerals and seawater to supply the skin with moisture and energy it needs. It will also cool and calm the skin down with its refreshing texture and alcohol content. However, this will not help with dead skin cells and clogged pores so I will still recommend oil skin folks to use at least a chemical exfoliant like Cosrx BHA Power Liquid to free your skin of clogged pores and dead skin cells, on top of this hydrating toner! And finally, a lightweight moisturizer is another must-have for all oily skin folks! Good luck finding yours!
