Review: Make P:rem In-Shower Face Mask

I won this in a giveaway event organized by Soko Beauty, and I am really happy about it because I always want to give the Make P:rem In-Shower Face Mask a try after my positive experience with its Radiance Cleansing Pack! After all, you don't get to see a lot of "in-shower mask" in other places. Make P:rem is one of the innovative brands to come out with one. It makes skincare less time-consuming and easier. I don't like wash-off mask in general, but I am okay with those that takes less than 5 minutes. This In-Shower Face Mask happens to belong to the latter.

Thank you!

Alright, let's head straight to the review!

Make P:rem claims that this is an innovative in-shower mask that will moisturize and soften your skin while you are showering! You are recommended to leave it on for about 15-20 minutes when you are showering, and then rinse it off later. But for someone like me, who like to enjoy quick shower, I won't stay in shower that long unless I am also doing my hair treatment simultaneously. I mostly just have it on for 5-10 minutes, or 15 minutes at max, and rinse it off later.

It is designed to be non-budging and non-slippery, viscous enough to "stick" to your face thorough your shower. The steam produced in your shower will help to force feed your skin with beneficial ingredients like hyaluronic acid and berry extracts. In other words, this is a sheet mask without the actual cotton sheet layer. The viscous texture and the hot steam produced in shower will act like sheet mask on your face.

Well, to be honest, it will get wash off somehow if I keep it for that long. It will still budget and fall off your face, especially if your face is damp. Unless you keep your face as far as possible from the shower, you can't avoid getting some of the mask washed off or melted away, but you'll still be able to keep most of the product on your skin after your shower.

it has a tiny corner for you to write down when you open it

It has ceramide, argan oil and many other occlusive and emollients to keep your skin soft and smooth after rinsing. However, for someone like me, who just doesn't like to have anything on my face after showering, I tend to rinse my face for longer to make sure no residue is left, but even that I can feel that my skin is a lot silky and smoother after using this mask!

no-budge if you splash water onto it, but budget if you stay in the shower for 5 minutes or longer

Unfortunately, despite the convenience and creativity, this cannot replace real sheet mask in my routine. It cannot really force feed and treat my skin even if I have it on for longer (~15 minutes). It does make my skin silkier and softer after using. My skin also feels smoother and plumper. But the effect is quite temporary. Even lotion mask (applying toner-soaked facial cotton on the face for 3-5 minutes) works better than this. It is just a nice in-shower SPA that my face enjoys. I like it better than other wash-off masks, but it is not enough to warrant a repurchase.

I don't deny that this is indeed an innovative breakthrough in skincare. As we are getting busier nowadays, having something like this really helps to save a lot of time and effort on skincare. I am sure there will be a lot of people who find this awesome or useful, but unfortunately that's not me. I personally don't think it is that helpful, nor can it replace real sheet mask. It is just a wash-off mask that cuts the wait-time shorter. The texture is really nice, the scent is super sweet and lovely, and the effect is still there. It's just too bad that I don't like wash-off mask, and this cannot make its way into my exemption list.

- hygienic, practical pump top
- affordable price
- smells great, sweet and pleasant
- innovative, time-saving wash-off mask concept

- cannot replace real mask; less effective than I thought
- I prefer quicker fix like Blithe Splash Mask

Overall impression: ★★★☆
