Review: Loveisderma Deep Hydrating Bio-Cellulose Mask

I received this premium bio-cellulose hydrating mask from Loveisderma some times ago. The product comes in a box of three, and today I just finished using the last one (the third one) so I am ready to share my thoughts on it below!

Loveisderma used to be available at Hermo Malaysia but now you can only find it in Beautibi, Yesstyle, and Taiwan. I am not sure why they stopped selling it at Malaysia though. It was retailed for RM 49 at Hermo Malaysia though so you can tell that this is a premium mask as it costs more than RM 15 each.

Loveisderma only carries one sheet mask item, which is this Deep Hydrating Bio-Cellulose Mask. It claims to have outstanding moisture-retention properties with the ability to hold up to 100 times fluid of its dry weight. The mask is made of premium bio-cellulose fiber, and can fit perfectly onto your skin to constantly supply your skin with hydration.

In a way, this feels like Innisfree's Second Skin Mask!

The sheet mask is held between two harder sheet. The mask itself is very thin and silky. Loveisderma claims that the material of this mask is made of 100% organic, micro-cellulose fibers that are 200x finer and 4x stronger than the cellulose produced naturally by plant. It is synthesized from premium aacetobacter xylinum bacteriais, which is a material normally used for wound healing and medical applications, which enable it to hold more skin-benefiting ingredients and moisture inside.

It fits perfectly to my skin. However, I wouldn't recommend that you use it while doing other things because it will slip off your face easily.

INGREDIENTS ANALYSIS
(CosDNA)

This mask is made of a good amount of skin soothing and repairing antioxidants and botanical extracts. Aloe vera, licorice root extract, cucumber extract, urea, sodium PCA, chamomile flower extract, and so on soothing ingredients are among the top ingredients listed here. However, I am a bit concerned about the methylisothiazolinone, which I cannot stress enough in my blog of its skin irritating and toxic properties, so I am quite surprised that they add it in, because this is supposed to be “premium”. I know many Taiwanese brands carry this ingredient, so do watch out if you are sensitive to this ingredient!

PERFORMANCE

I used this after applying Hada Labo Kiwamizu Lotion (a hydrating toner) so my skin is pretty plump and hydrated already. I opened the foil to find the mask held between two plastic sheet. There is a hefty amount of essence left in the pocket. You can apply it onto your body parts as body essence. Some people even keep it in the fridge and will use it as lotion mask the next day to avoid wastage. There is no scent to it whatsoever.

My skin feels really cool, calm and hydrated when I am applying this. I had it on for 30 minutes. I didn't rinse it after taking the mask off as the essence was not sticky and feels pretty good on the skin. I just patted the essence until absorbed before finishing it off with a cream.

My skin looks better hydrated and a lot brighter the next day. Dewiness kicks in and I can tell that my skin will stay moist even without applying anything. I am pretty positive that its better moisture holding capacity is due to this mask.

CONCLUSION

Normally we use masks to force feed our skin with nutrients and hopefully our skin will remain plump and supple the next day. What this mask does is that it helps my skin to better hold moisture, and in return, my skin looks glowy and dewy all day long!

I like how this mask feels really genuine and minimalist with the packaging, a lack of fragrance, premium materials and so on. And I also enjoy the efficacy where my skin looks dewier and hold moisture a lot better the next day. However, there are several cons that prevent me from repurchasing. One of them is the price factor. At RM 49, this is considered a very premium price. Jayjun ones offer similar results at half its price. Next, I also feel concerned about the methylisotizolinone inside. I am not okay with anything that has to do with this ingredient so I always try to play safe. And I also don't like how this mask is so huge in size and hard for travelling. Besides, if it can indeed hold up so much moisture it, why there is so much essence left in the pocket? It will cause unnecessary wastage in my opinion because not everyone will reuse the leftover essence.

Having said all these, I like its performance but there are things that set me back from repurchasing. You can try it out if you are interested though。
