Review: A.H.C The Real Eye Cream For Face - Special Day

I bought this A.H.C The Real Eye Cream For Face - Special Day a few months ago out of my love for A.H.C eye cream. I have been their fans since Season 3. Recently I also bought the newly released Season 6 but dumped it when the smell gave me headache.

This Special Day is a sub of Season 5. There is also a Special Night collection but I opted for the lighter Special Day version. I also need something like this in my office. The normal eye cream would be too rich and creamy for regular uses so this will be perfect.

I got this from Nanamall at RM 50, but you can also get this from Gmarket, Testerkorea, Qoo10 (White Skin) and many other trusted sellers. I know there is a lot of fakes out there so you hafta be extra careful when buying A.H.C eye cream.

The eye cream comes in sleek and elegant-looking tube. There is about 30ml inside. Using this as a eye cream will last you for a few months but doubling it up as a facial cream may last you lesser than a month or two. I love the tube-packaging as it is lighter and easier for travelling!

Despite the cost, you can see that A.H.C actually puts a lot of emphasis on the aesthetic aspect of this eye cream. The gold-coated cap and beautiful design speaking for their attention to quality and consumer satisfaction.

The eye cream comes in a pearl-white gel cream texture that is fairly moisturizing but lightweight.

It is very easy to spread given the lightweight consistency.

It gets absorbed really quick without leaving any stickiness or tackiness.

My only complain about this eye cream has to be its scent, which smells strongly of alcohol.

This is a super long list! Among the key ingredients here are niacinamide, mountain yam root extract, burdock root extract, rice extract, aloe vera extract, centella asiatica extract, collagen extract and so on. It seems like A.H.C is trying to put everything they can possibly find in eye cream and blend them together. It is like many Asian brands products, among them the popular Naruko and Nature Republic, which has a tendency to lump everything together to make a “super-skincare” that can solve all skincare problems. Unfortunately, putting many different botanical extracts together also run of risk of causing skin irritants in more people, because you are died so long as one of the ingredients irritate you out!

Surprisingly, I didn't spot any alcohol among the list despite the strong alcohol scent. Similar to Kose Sekkisei, this actually irritates my skin a lot when I apply it due to the strong alcohol sensation. It is hydrating and moisturizing, but is definitely not soothing or calming. It is a good cooling gel cream that will wake your skin up in the morning, but may be too "strong" for younger and sensitive skin.

I don't enjoy this eye cream as much, and I don't think I will repurchase. It has a strong alcohol scent that I find overwhelming. It also irritates my skin and eye out sometimes. It is good that A.H.C comes out with a Special Day eye cream, but this is really not as good as its signature Season 5. Comparing this to the Season 5 is like putting Samsung Galaxy 8 and 8 mini together. I do not recommend this to anyone, unless if you have pretty resilient skin, or you are young and like something spicy around your eyes area.

- cheap
- sleek packaging
- lightweight, hydrating, easily absorbed

- irritating
- strong alcohol scent
- not very moisturizing and soothing for your delicate eye area
