Review: Blossom Jeju White Camellia Soombi 2 Step Vitamin+ Brightening Essence Petal Mask

I received the Blossom Jeju White Camellia Soombi Mask from my first Kurator haul. I was one of the first 50 (I think) to shop from them hence is entitled to a piece of free mask. The mask itself is actually quite pricey at around RM 20 each since a box retails for RM 99 at Kurator. If I am not mistaken, Kurator is the sole distributor of Blossom Jeju in Malaysia and you can hardly find them elsewhere in the country, not even online. Another portal where you can find Blossom Jeju would be Glow Recipe but shipping would be a big issue if you buy from Glow so I always get my Blossom Jeju goodies from Kurator.

The White Camellia Soombi Mask comes in 2 steps:

  • Step 1 - 100% pure camellia oil
  • Step 2 - sheet mask

The mask looks really pretty like a flower petal. Blossom Jeju has short shelf life so their products expire within a year or so from manufacturing so do make sure to use yours as soon as you receive it!

First, I cut open the step 1 camellia oil and squeeze all the product inside out. I then apply them evenly all over my face. There is a lot of oil inside so you can also apply some on your drier body parts like elbows and knees if you have in excess. The oil doesn't have fragrance added inside so it just smells like facial oil in its purest form. It is rich in emollient. Not very greasy but still quite oily for oily skin type. You don't need to use a toner beforehand since the oil serves as a cushion for the upcoming sheet mask step.

Next, I put on the mask. The mask comes soaked with clear, runny and slightly viscous essence. The mask itself is thin but firm. It will hold on to your face tightly without sliding off. The experience of putting it on is pleasant. It also has a very nice enticing jasmine flower scent to it that makes the whole process enjoyable and relaxing. I kept the mask on for about 20-30 minutes despite instruction says only 10-20. I wanted to keep them longer to push all the camellia goodies into my skin. The mask is about 3/4 dried after 30 minutes, which means most of the essence has already been absorbed into my face. Some sheet mask remains wet even after putting them on for longer than 40 minutes which is weird because the essence doesn't feel absorbing at all but fortunately not for this Blossom Jeju mask.

Step 1
Camellia Japonica Seed Oil

Step 2
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, 1-2 Hexanediol, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Panthenol, Betaine, Trehalose, Hippophae Rhamnoides Water, Pearl Extract, Paeonia Lactiflora Root Extract, Licorice Root Extract, Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract, Phellinus Linteus Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Sophora Flavescens Root Extract, Cimicifuga Racemosa Root Extract, Sesame Seed Extract, Angelica Gigas Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Extract, Matricaria Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Beta-Glucan, Malus Domestica Fruit Extract, Rosemary Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Blueberry Fruit Extract, Rose Canina Fruit Extract, Broccoli Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Allantoin, Polysorbate 80, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Triethanolamine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Fragrance

Does the ingredient convince you to keep the mask for longer? It has so many botanical extracts and skin-loving ingredients that you want for your skin!

Niacinamide is always my favourite elasticity-improving and anti-pigmentation ingredient. This stuff always works to reduce the formation of freckles and even help fading existing ones! Then we have many ingredients like pearl extract, peony flower extract, licorice root extract, sesame seed extract, morus alba bark extract, and so on which are found to have skin brightening and melanin inhibiting effects. Some anti-inflammatory are also added in here, mostly in the form of botanical extracts like green purslane, beta glucan, chamomile flower, rosemary, cactus, aloe vera leaf extract and so on.

Most of these ingredients are safe with little to no potential irritation to your skin. A small amount of them like carbomer, polysorbate 80, triethanolamine, and so on constitute for less than 1% which are unlikely to cause issues for most skin types.

The Blossom Jeju White Camellia Mask is a great SPA option! It offers luxurious masking experience with its ultra-nourishing texture and enticing jasmine scent that accompanies you thorough that 20-30 minutes. Definitely something I would bring with me if I were to go travelling to some nice places where I can slap this on while laying on the beach counting the stars!

The mask is quite nourishing. The sheet mask step helps to push all the camellia oil deep into my skin to enhance its absorption. The mask looks plump and smooth when I took the mask off. However, it didn't actually offer much of a skin brightening effects. My skin doesn't appear more radiant or clearer after taking the mask off. It just looks "oily", like the look you get if you apply an excessive amount of oil on your face. The skin doesn't feel oil or greasy though. Although the immediate effect is not as impressive, I still won't call this obsolete or useless given the amount of skin brightening ingredients inside here. The target should be the hyperpigmentation on your skin, which cannot be removed in one short 20 therapy session, hence you are advised to be patient.

I love this mask, but I am not sure will I repurchase. I enjoy the luxurious texture of it, how the sheet mask actually force feed all the nutritious camellia oil into my skin. I also love the enticing jasmine scent that always makes my feel super in love. The ingredients are amazing with a lot of gentle and effective botanical extracts that my skin drinks up happily. However, for a RM 20 mask that doesn't seem to offer any instantaneous result, it is kinda pricey. I think I would rather spend that amount of money for other Blossom Jeju products, like the toner or essence, which is more "worth-it" compared to this sheet mask that will only stay on my face for less than half an hour.

Overall, a wonderful and luxurious masking experience that I would like to reexperience when Kurator is running sales on it in future!
