Haul Review: Wako Beauty from Shopee - Cosrx, Pyunkang Yul, and Huxley

I noticed that there is an increasing number of reliable kbeauty retailers in Malaysia nowadays (despite everyone claiming that the economy is terrible). Back then (3-4 years back), we only have Hermo and some Facebook sellers who sell Korean beauty products at skyrocketing prices. Now not only we have Althea, Hermo these local big heads, but also some newly emerging ones on Shopee, Lazada, Qoo10, and many more, not to mention Korea-based retailers like Koreadepart, Testerkorea, Gmarket, Style Korean, Jolse, Rose Rose Shop, Sweet Corea and so on. And the industry is growing.

In today's review, I am gonna share what I bought from a kbeauty retailer I recently discovered on Shopee and how it feels like shopping from them. Please note that this is not a sponsored review, merely a sharing of my recent haul online.

Review: Huxley Lip Balm; Moisture Wear

I am always on the look out for nice lip balms. I have tried many, from Nivea, Silky Girl, Hada Labo, and Mentholatum, but except for Hada Labo that has been discontinued, none really fits what I am looking for in a lip balm. I subsequently shifted my focus to lip sleeping mask, and have tried 3 different lip masks in the past. Yet, none seems to really meet my expectations. Laneige one is the best, but I want something less sticky and more watery. I prefer something hydrating for my lips, not just emollient or occlusive because my lips don't seem to fare well with those texture. Emollient or occlusive balms only pull my lips instead of soothe and moisturize it. As such, when I saw one of my favourite brands Huxley is carrying this unique Moisture Wear Lip Balm, I didn't hesitate to order one, in the hope that I would find my One after Hada Labo that's already been discontinued.

Let's find out how I feel about the Huxley Lip Balm!

Review: The History of Whoo Bichup Royal Anti Aging Kit

I am not sure do you guys notice, but The History of Whoo is actually considered more high-end than Sulwhasoo. It is actually quite obvious. Sulwhasoo's most expensive item, if I remembered correctly, should be less than RM 1,000 but The History of Whoo has anti-aging products that retail for more than RM 2,000! That's like double the price! Of course, skincare is not all about price tags so I am NOT suggesting that The History of Whoo products are better than Sulwhasoo, I am just saying that they are pricier!

I am not really a fan of Whoo products, mostly due to the price. I can't afford buying skincare items that will easily cost me my monthly salary. And I seriously do not see the need of doing so. But the high price tag doesn't stop me from feeling curious about Whoo products. I always want to get a hand on some Whoo products so when I see Gmarket (a Korean online retail platform) selling Whoo product miniatures, I quickly ordered some to try out myself.

Among many The History of Whoo products, three particular ones stand out:

  • The History of Whoo Bichup Soon Hwan Essence
  • The History of Whoo Bichup Self-Generating Anti-Aging Essence
  • The History of Whoo Bichup Ja Yoon Cream

They are all in the "bichup" line (密贴), which targets drier, duller and more mature skin to promote cellular repair and to offer intense but lightweight nourishment for the skin. They are among the brand's best sellers and are particularly famous among Taiwanese and Chinese girls!

Let's look at the products individually:

Review: 4 Months Experience Using The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% (or Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion)

I wanted to use this for longer, because I still haven't seen the "long-term" results of using it consistently, but since I've been with this product for more than 4 months, I have accumulated a lot of thoughts on it that I want to share with you guys.

I got The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% about 4-5 months ago from ASOS. I wanted to get it from Deciem Official Website at first, but realizing that Deciem raised their shipping cost, making their products twice as expensive as its price tag including delivery. The Ordinary marketizes itself as a cheap but effective skincare solution so there is no point spending so much just to get it shipped here, which is why I had to look for alternative channels. I am so glad that I found ASOS, which offers free shipping (with tracking number) for order above £20.

Retinol, retinoid or vitamin A is new to me. I am not used to using vitamin A in my routine. I know it is good for wrinkles and uneven skin texture but I am not sure exactly how it works (for me) so I don't want to venture into it. I was pretty comfortable using only AHA and BHA. But when The Ordinary came out with a retinoid that costs me only $10-15 (~RM 60), I knew it is a great opportunity for me to test retinoid out. After all, I won't feel that terrible if the product doesn't work for my skin because it is just (just?) RM 60!

Comparison Review: Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask EX, Trufresh Soothing Mask, Radiance Energy Mask and Clarifying Mask EX

Sulwhasoo is one of my favourite skincare brands. It uses premium ingredients, has nice packaging and most importantly it works well to nourish and protect my skin. Many of my friends love Sulwhasoo as well, which includes my mom who are fan of the brand's cleansing oil, cleansing foam and ginseng cream.

I wrote several reviews on Sulwhasoo previously, which you can check out below if you are interested:

People know Sulwhasoo mainly by its ginseng and essential balancing products. But do you know that their masks are actually pretty good as well? Honestly, I think Sulwhasoo masks are one of the must-haves if you are into Sulwhasoo but finding their products too pricey. The masks normally come in bigger volume hence giving it high CP ratio. They are also more suitable for younger skin or those who just want to test the waters before venturing into Sulwhasoo.

Sulwhasoo have two really popular masks, namely the Overnight Vitalizing Mask EX and Clarifying Mask EX. Recently, the brand also introduces two more into the lines, one is a soothing pack whereas the other one is an overnight repairing mask made of jade extract. Sounds cool? Let's look at them one by one!

Review: Belif The True Cream - Water Bomb

Well, I think many of us agrees that first love stays beautiful forever in your memories, even though in reality it isn't that beautiful. That applies to my skincare holy grails as well.

I guess most of you who follow my blog knows that I am a big fan of Belif The True Cream - Aqua Bomb, and I am still now. But that doesn't rule out the fact that there might be many other products better than Aqua Bomb out there in the market. I am blind to those though, because Aqua Bomb is my first, so it has a divine position inside my heart. Nothing can challenge its beauty and perfection. But I can't help to notice that not all of my friends adore Aqua Bomb as much as I do. That doesn't mean that Aqua Bomb is not good, but it just happens that most of my friends who don't like Aqua Bomb find it sticky.

Well... I get it. Aqua Bomb is designed for combination to dry skin, so dehydrated and oily skins might find the product overwhelming. Normally I would stop at Aqua Bomb when my friend(s) whom I recommended Belif to finds it sticky because Aqua Bomb is the lightest cream you can find in Belif. You can't get other ones if Aqua Bomb doesn't work for you. You can of course try out the Oil Control Fresh Moisturizer, but even that one is a little bit tacky. So I am actually pretty excited when Belif comes out with this lighter and instant skin cooling Water Bomb designed for oilier skin! Because now I can extend an olive branch to those who aren't Belif-ians yet because they find the Aqua Bomb sticky!

Review: LJH Vita Propolis Ampoule and Cream

They say good things come in pairs. But for LJH Vita Propolis Ampoule and Cream, it is different. Despite my affection for the Ampoule, its Cream turned out to be a complete failure for me.

Before we begin, let’s talk about how I got to know LJH. I learned about LJH Vita Propolis Ampoule from Fiddy Snails 2 years ago. I was really intrigued by this product that Fiddy raved about so much despite the price. I started using them quite some time ago, about 1.5 years ago if I am not mistaken. I have finished using 2 bottles of them, and is now into my 3rd before realizing that I never actually talked about them in my blog! So here it is, my much belated LJH Vita Propolis Ampoule and Cream reviews! I hope you guys find it useful!

Honestly speaking, it was really difficult to buy LJH 2 years ago when I came across Fiddy’s post. The price at Glow Recipe was super unaffordable (plus shipping). HKC Plaza did not come up despite I googled the product. So I had to wait for several months before I bumped into Koreadepart. Now this product is widely available on Roseroseshop, Testerkorea, Gmarket, Sweet Corea, and eBay so you should be able to find it now.

As for those of you who are new to LJH, it is a pharmaceutical brand originated from Korea in 2004. The brand carries many lines of products but its most popular ones are the tea tree and vita propolis lines. I have talked about the LJH tea tree and probiotics products previously so you can check those out if you are interested.

Review: Make P:rem Clean Me. Radiance Cleansing Pack

I am an impatient person, so if you ask me to use a mask that I need to apply and then wait for 15-20 minutes before washing it off, I will normally say no. I like to settle everything in shower, and is absolutely against having to wash my face after shower. As such, I am quite lucky to be born with normal skin because clay mask is not a must for me. Unless if you have severely clogged and oily skin, clay mask is really a bonus not a must. What it offers is just a temporary deep-cleansing "illusion" that will disappear once all the sebum and pollutants kick in. Yes it can "suck out" excessive oil, moisture and dirt on your surface that is within its reach, but nothing "deep-down" or permanent.

But just like some of you, I have this clay mask itch whenever my skin feels dirty or clogged. I also have friends with nose pads itch who just want to see blackheads got pulled off their pores, knowing very well that these won't do anything practical for their skin and pores. So what happens when you have this clay mask itch but don't like to wait too long for the clay mask to dry like me? Enter Make P:rem Clean Me. Radiance Cleansing Pack. This is a clay-mask-to-foam cleanser that will save you time in shower yet keeping your pores happy and clear!
