Vitality of Sprout Energy: A Review of 29 Primera Products Part 2

This is gonna be my part 2 review of Primera products after another year. This time, I have tried several more products from the brand Primera and have a better understanding of the brand and its performance as a whole.

For those of you who are still new to Primera, it is a Korean cosmetic brand under the umbrella company Amore Pacific. Its direct competitor to LG Group, another Korean umbrella company, is Belif. But I personally think that Primera shares more similarities with brands like Whamisa, Aesop, Jurlique, and Melvita. So if you are into very vegen and "natural" skincare products, then Primera is for you.

The name Primera resembles "prime" and "era". It refers to the "most important moment" for seed, which is during its germination process. Primera believes that seed releases enormous amount of energy during germination when it grows into a plant.

You can read more about the brand philosophy and activities here.

Let's look at some of these amazing products:
  • Primera Intensive Facial Peeling Gel
  • Primera Marula Anti-Dryness Moisture Shampoo
  • Primera Marula Anti-Dryness Daily Treatment
  • Primera Keep-Calm Aroma Body Scrub Wash
  • Primera Natural Rich Cleansing Foam
  • Primera Moisture Cleansing Tissue
  • Primera Natural Berry Lip Mask
  • Primera Mango Butter Comforting Body Lotion
  • Primera Water Cress Brightening Cleansing Foam
  • Primera Free & Free Soft Foam

Comparison Review: Belif The True - Whitening Cream vs. Belif The White Decoction - Ultimate Brightening Cream

Ever wonder after Aqua Bomb, which cream will come hit me on the head and make me want to use it every day? It will be this The True - Whitening Cream from Belif! I listed it as my top 9 skincare products in 2016 on my Instagram and called this one of my holy grail creams that I cannot live without. But sadly... it has been discontinued. Belif reformulates, repackages and replaces it with "The White Decoction - Ultimate Brightening Cream" last year and I will run out of the product soon when I finish my last bottle in reserve.

In today's review, we are gonna talk about this discontinued holy grail cream of mine, and look at whether or not the newer version is a better version of the Belif whitening cream.

Review: Ryo Jayangjunmo Anti-Hair Loss Shampoo, Conditioner, Treatment and Scalp Deep Cleanser

I know a lot of people have talked about Ryo haircare and this Jayangjunmo line in particular. But since most of the reviews I read were in Chinese, and there aren't a lot of information available to the English-speaking world, I will input my 2 cents opinion on these wonderful products here for your reference. It may be a little bit too late, and outdated even, but late is better than never right? Let's just started below! I apologize that I no longer keep some of the empties of these products so I cannot take a beautiful group photo. Included are four products from the Jayangjunmo line:

  • Ryo Jayangjunmo Anti-Hair Loss Shampoo for Sensitive Scalp
  • Ryo Jayangjunmo Anti-Hair Loss Conditioner
  • Ryo Jayangjunmo Scalp Deep Cleanser
  • Ryo Jayangjunmo Anti-Hair Loss Treatment

Review: Etude House Play 101 Pencil #10 and #36, Etude House Styling Eye Liner #White

I have a lot of Etude House makeup, but most of them were just meh. The first Etude House eyebrow which I bought from Hermo broke the first time I used it! But recently I noticed that there is an improvement in the quality of Etude House makeup products. Now they not only manufacture them to look cute, but also to work and stand longer!

Today I am gonna talk about these three pencil type makeup products I got from Etude House that I really enjoying using.

Review: Laneige Vitamin Brightening Cleansing Water

I think it is not wrong to call myself a semi-expert on cleansing water. I use almost exclusively cleansing waters, when everyone's else is using cleansing oil, so I get to try out a lot of different cleansing waters in the market. My first one was the Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Water, then I have Nature Republic, The Saem, Etude House and Son & Park. I have a few more in my wardrobe and today I am gonna talk about this one from Laneige.

Laneige only comes out with one cleansing water, even though they have 2-3 cleansing oil/liquid for you to choose from, so you won't be confused when you are looking for a cleansing water at Laneige counter. Laneige people actually advised me to get the Pore Cleansing Oil because they said the cleansing water could not really remove makeup (therefore it is useless). So I had to explain to them that I rarely put on makeup and I only use cleansing water to remove sunscreen. Is it that hard to believe that I only bought a makeup removing water to remove sunscreen? Anyway, this retails for RM 95 at the store and its cleansing oils more expensive. You can also get it online from Althea, Hermo, Gemfive and GoShop.

Review: Belif Witch Hazel Herbal Extract Toner and Deep Moist Creamy Moisturizer

Just like the Tincture of Chamomile, Witch Hazel Herbal Extract Toner is one of the first Belif products that I bought when I walked into the store. I knew I was gonna buy it the moment I poured it onto the back of my hand seeing how the milky liquid gets fully absorbed into my skin without leaving a trace, and how my skin appears much smoother, softer and radiant afterwards. A love at first sight.

Apart from Laneige Essential Skin Refiner - Moisture, this is probably the only milky toner that I enjoy using. I think I even like this better than the Laneige one as it is much more moisturizing, soothing and smells more "natural" in a way.

And since it is pink, and I found another pink lady in the line, which is the Deep Moist Creamy Moisturizer, I am gonna do a review for both products just to see whether or not these two are the perfect pair for each other and how they work respectively. I will also do a conclusion after comparing their texture, performance and ingredients used.

Review: Blithe Velvet Yam Pressed Serum

I have talked about Blithe in my previous review on the Tundra Chaga Pressed Serum. Basically, Blithe is a Korean cosmetic brand that intends to make a busy woman's life easier by coming out with innovative multitasking products that combine several skincare steps into one. Currently, they carry a few essence toners, pressed serums and exfoliating splash masks in their line. If you notice, these are products that condense at least two skincare steps. The one that we are gonna talk about today is their serum and moisturizer hybrid - Blithe Velvet Yam Pressed Serum for dry and dehydrated skin.

Review: Primera Super Sprout Serum

Actually I wasn't that interested in this product back then, I worried that it would be too rich for my liking hence was a little reluctant on trying it out. It was not until I got this as a GwP from the Primera Alpine Berry Watery Cream that I finally got to try it.

This is not my first Primera product. I did a review on the Primera Miracle Seed Essence last year introducing this wonderful essence that is suitable for sensitive, dehydrated and dull skin. I also just reviewed the two creams  I got from Primera. And my overview of several Primera products can also be found here.

I wouldn't say that I am a Primera fan, because I have other brands that I prefer, but the brand actually has quite a number of products that are worth trying out. This Super Sprout Serum, as one of the few with an eco cert, is definitely one of the worthies. Primera products are generally very gentle, eco-friendly and nutritious. You won't see the brand keeps coming up with products just to boost sales or to rekindle public interest. They are really picky about the products they made so you will see only sprouts and organic extracts are being used in their products. The Super Sprout Serum, with its ecocert, even means that at least 95% of the total ingredients are naturally derived and at least 95% of their plant-based ingredients are from organic farming.

Comparison Review: Why Moisturizing Matters and Talking About 26 Moisturizing Serum, Ampoule and Essence I have Used

I always want to do a comparison review of all moisturizing essences, serums and ampoules I have used in the past three years. A lot of people might feel that this is unnecessary because you can find moisturizing treatment literally everywhere, in almost every brand. And they are just moisturizing treatment, they don't have any fancy ingredients, functions and are not actives or fermented stuffs. So, why are they important or what are their roles in our skincare routine?

Let me tell you this, moisturizing treatments are the most basic stuff you need to have in your routine. Almost every girl starts off with a moisturizing serum. Moisturizing treatment is also more soothing and skin repairing than any other treatment type products. If you are suffering from sun burn or over-exfoliating, a moisturizing serum is probably the only treatment you can use to help your skin repairs. And you will always need something moisturizing to penetrate deep into your skin to fill in all the dryness and cracks. A properly moisturized skin is also almost always a radiant and dewy looking skin. Hence, moisturizing serum is a staple among Asian skincare routine. If I go to the store with a few friends and ask them which masks they would go for, at least half of them will opt for the moisturizing one instead of brightening, anti-aging, and soothing. It is in Asian women's belief that moisturization is the key to healthy skin.

In this review, I'm gonna be talking about 26 moisturizing essences, serums or ampoules I have tried in the past three years; some I enjoyed using but some were just "meh", full list is as below:
  • A.H.C Capture Hyaluronic Ampoule
  • Belif Classic Essence Increment
  • Belif Hungarian Water Essence

Review: LG ReEn Yungo The Premium Bird's Nest Premium Hair Cleansing Treatment and Yungo Ampoule Drop Essence

Wanna experience the luxurious Korean haircare treat that looks like it is formulated for the Korean royalty? You gotta try out the LG ReEn Yungo The Premium Bird's Nest Premium Hair Cleansing Treatment and Yungo Ampoule Drop Essence! Pheww... what a long name.

Yungo haircare line was really popular in 2015 and 2016. Their cleansing treatment, for instance, is always sold out in the Korean departmental store. Some Chinese manufacturers were quick at coming out with fakes for this product due to its popularity and high demand. So we actually saw a huge market trend to grab Yungo products one or two years ago. But this all had died down now, which was pretty interesting! The same goes for a lot of Korean hot products like Cloud 9 cream, Elizavecca, and so on.

Today, I am gonna bring you guys through this very popular but suddenly died down brand from  LG Yungo/ReEn.

Of Water Science and Dewy Skin: A Brand Overview and Reviews of 25 Laneige Products Part 2

I have talked about the brand philosophy and its skincare objective in my part 1 review, which you can see here. So, in this review, I am gonna be talking about my general impression on the brand Laneige and Laneige products as a whole.

Laneige is a popular cosmetic brand in Asia. Actually, it is more successful across the world than it is in Korea. The brand itself is doing good in Korea as well but you will find them more popular in other countries, which is kinda interesting. Korean women tend to prefer higher-end brands like Sulwhasoo, Hera, IOPE, Ohui, and so on. College girls or those who cannot afford more expensive skincare brands will go for Innisfree, Tony Moly, Etude House, and so on road store brands. So Laneige is somewhere in between. Its consistency is also lighter so it is less so hyped up in Korea where the winter can be really brutal. I am not saying that Laneige is not popular in Korea, I am just saying that it seems to be more popular in other Asian countries.

I know the brand long before knowing Innisfree, Nature Republic, Estee Lauder, Biotherm... and so on. A lot of people are raving about it, many more using it. And it is kinda simple, its concept basically evolves around water technology so you can imagine the importance of moisturizing in Asian women's skincare ritual. In a hot and humid environment like Malaysia, lightweight yet moisturizing products are the kill. There is even one lady at Parkson asking me why am I buying Kose when everyone prefers Laneige, which I thought was kinda interesting!

Having used Laneige for more than 2 years now, I am finally dedicated myself to writing about this brand. I used to assume that everyone knows about Laneige already. It is so popular and so many people are using and talking their products. But somehow I still received questions on how to use their products and what are my thoughts on them so I just decided to compile all of them and put them in a mega review like what I did for Belif, Biotherm, Innisfree, and so on.

Let's get started with this much anticipated part 2 review:

  • Laneige All Day Anti-Pollution Defensor
  • Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Peeling Gel
  • Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Repair Pack
  • Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
  • Laneige Water Sleeping Mask
  • Laneige Time Freeze Firming Sleeping Mask
  • Laneige Whitening Sleeping Ball
  • Laneige Firming Sleeping Ball
  • Laneige Mini Pore Waterclay Mask
  • Laneige White Plus Renew Tone Up Corrector SPF40 PA++
  • Laneige Two Tone Tint Lip Bar Pink Salmon
  • Laneige Water Drop Tint Apricot

Of Water Science and Dewy Skin: A Brand Overview and Reviews of 25 Laneige Products Part 1

Laneige and Innisfree are two brands that I am sure most of us are aware of, especially kbeauty lovers. Laneige beauty philosophy is all about using better water technology to impart glow, radiant and clarity to the skin. Its pursuance of sparkling beauty allows it to unleash dazzling charm of a person through its flawless complexion. And through its beauty ambassador Song Hye-Kyo, we can definitely see its ultimate beauty goal, which is to reverse the skin's natural aging process through the utilization of water technology. Laneige believes that the natural moisturizing barrier of the skin start losing its vitality over time as we age, and this is the primary factor that leads to aging. As such, keeping the skin constantly moisturized is the key to a clearer, babyish soft and younger-looking skin.

Below are the list of products I have tried from the brands:

  • Laneige Vitamin Brightening Cleansing Water
  • Laneige Oil Free Cleansing Liquid
  • Laneige Multi Cleanser
  • Laneige Clear C Advanced Effector
  • Laneige Essential Power Skin Refiner_Moisture
  • Laneige Water Science Mist #Brightening Sparkling Water
  • Laneige Water Bank Mineral Skin Mist
  • Laneige Time Freeze Eye Serum
  • Laneige Water Bank Essence_EX
  • Laneige White Plus Renew Original Essence_EX
  • Laneige Balancing Emulsion_Light
  • Laneige Water Bank Gel Cream

Comparison Review: 13 Hair Treatments I've Tried for My Dry and Frizzy Hair in the Summer

We talked about scalp treatments previously, so I want to discuss hair treatments in this article. Hair is basically a bunch of dead skin cells made of protein filament. Like every part of your body, it is prone to dryness, roughness and breakage. It is important that you take care of your hair in addition to taking care of your scalp, to prevent discoloration or splitting. I normally use a hair treatment once per week to offer some deep nourishment for my hair, mostly during weekend. But if I find lighter hair treatment like Lador Hydro LPP Treatment, I will also use it as a hair conditioner to sort of moisturize and condition my hair after daily shampooing. This comparison review will compare 13 different hair treatments (excluding hair conditioners) that I have tried from various brands with a focus on Korean brands in the past few years. Since I am living in a hot and humid environment, so I will also call this the hair treatment review for the summer. I have dry and frizzy hair with serious scalp issue. So you might be interested in knowing what kind of hair treatments can you use for dry hair but troubled scalp in a summer country, which I will sharing below.

Anyway, end with the introduction, let's cut straight to the products:

  • Lador Perfect Fill-Up Water
  • Magic Boo One Minute Hair Treatment

Comparison Review: 12 Scalp Treatments I Have Tried for My Dry, Flaky and Sensitive Scalp

As shared in my previous reviews and beauty tips, I have really naughty scalp that is always scaly and flaky. It is itchy from time to time, and is accompanied by loads of dandruff. I know I ain't old man, so I am not supposed to have metabolism issue, but that was the sad truth for my scalp. It is just... embarrassing. I have tried out a bunch of scalp treatments, but none seems to work before I met Lador. And Lador one isn't perfect either, as I am still troubled by dandruff and dry scalp issue.

Anyhow, I think I am experienced enough, having tried more than 10 scalp treatments in the past few years, to share with you guys some of the good and bad things that you can have for your scalp. I hope that this will serve as a useful guide for those of you who are interested in trying out some of the products below, or want to find out which products are best for your scalp.

To recap, I have dry and flaky scalp that will start itching when I am sweating or when I am in a dry environment. This is a skin issue I develop after furthering my study in Canada. I am not sure what are the exact causes for my scalp problem, but I think it is the weather and food there that has somehow burdened my scalp. The shampoo I used in Canada might be a contributing factor as well. Plus my old habit of lying directly on the bed after washing my hair. Read on if you have the same/similar problem as mine.

Products mentioned are:
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Avene Skin Recovery Cream (Calming Formula)
  • Innisfree Eco Ice Head Cooler
  • Innisfree Green Tea Mint Fresh Scalp Tonic Essence
  • Hello Everybody Verbena Scalp Scaling Mask
  • Lador Scalp Scaling Spa
  • Lador Tea Tree Scalp Clinic Hair Pack
  • Moogoo Scalp Cream
  • Ryoe Anti-Hair Loss Treatment
  • Ryoe Jayangjunmo Scalp Deep Cleanser
  • Tsubaki Head Spa Mask
  • Yves Rocher Rinsing Vinegar

Comparison Review: Primera Oil Free Watery Gel Cream vs. Primera Alpine Berry Watery Cream

I talked about  Primera earlier. It is a lesser known Korean brand that uses only natural ingredients. Its products are mainly made of germinated seeds, which are believed to contain enormous vitality that allow a seed to grow into plant. These Primera creams that we are gonna talk about today are made of alpine strawberry sprouts.

Primera shares a lot of similarities with brands like Jurlique, Aesop, Melvita, Whamisa and Aromatica. It is a middle to higher end skincare brand in Korea that is only retailed in selected departmental stores. It selects only the best ingredients for their products. Their products are said to be suitable for sensitive skin and even pregnant women!

Primera Alpine Berry Watery Cream and Oil-Free Watery Gel Cream are one of their best-sellers, but the Watery Cream is more popular than the Gel Cream. I have started using both creams for over a year now and I want to talk about them in details in this post. You can check out this link to read my summary review on these products.

Comparison Review of 16 Treatment Essence / First Essence Part 2: Belif, Biotherm, Clinique, Innisfree, Kiehl's and Laneige

This is the part 2 of my comparison review of 16 treatment essences I have tried in the past few years. You can check out this link for part 1.

Normally, treatment essence or first essence is the "0" step routine you use right after cleansing, and before a toner, serum, and moisturizer. Earlier treatment essences that come out in the market are more or less the dupes for SK-II. They share a lot of similarities in term of packaging (tall glass bottle), consistency (watery, lightweight, non-viscous), ingredients (fermented, yeast), and performance (revitalizing, regenerating and brightening). But as brands start catching up with with the trend and technology, there also many deviants from "standard" treatment essence. Now we see essences with richer consistency, non-fermented ingredients, different type of packaging and also different skincare claims being produced. In this review, we are going to talk about these non-conventional treatment essences, and whether or not they are as good as the "conventional treatment essence:
  • Belif The True Decoction - Anti Aging Shaking Water
  • Belif The True Tincture of Chamomile
  • Biotherm Life Plankton Essence
  • Clinique Turnaround Revitalizing Lotion
  • Innisfree Soybean Energy Essence | Full Review
  • Kiehl's Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence

Comparison Review of 16 Treatment Essence / First Essence Part 1: Estee Lauder, Hera, IOPE, Lirikos, Nature Republic, Primera, Secret Key, SK-II, and Tony Moly

I have talked about first serum, or skin booster before, which you can check out here. Basically, first serum is a type of skin booster that can prep, treat, and boost the skin so that it can better absorb other products you are putting on your skin later. First serum tends to be richer in consistency, and contains more skin benefiting extracts.

Treatment essence, or first essence, on the other hand, is a watery essence that you use to revitalize, rejuvenate, and exfoliate the skin. It can also do other things like hydrating, prepping, brightening, and anti-oxidizing. Treatment essence is different from first serum in the sense that it has lighter consistency and usually comes in the form of tall glass bottle. In addition, it often is made of fermented yeast extract, although some treatment essences are made of bio technology or other fermented ingredients. Treatment essence tends to be waterless (undiluted) without any fragrance added. A lot of treatment essences in the market are dupes for SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, but recently there are also a lot of deviants from SK-II when brands are coming out with their own essences.

In this review, we are gonna talk about several treatment / first essences I have used in the past few years. They will be broken down into two parts:
  • part 1: conventional treatment essence
  • part 2: non-conventional treatment essence

Treatment essence, or first essence is the "0" step in your skincare routine, where you use after cleansing, and before a toner, serum or moisturizer. It normally comes in the form of lightweight, watery, unscented liquid. Most treatment essences are so concentrated that they are waterless, which means they only contain undiluted skin-benefiting ingredients, thus justifies their higher price tags. Treatment essence has many functions, but it is primarily used to prep, hydrate, exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin, hence the nickname "miracle water" in Asia. You can also use treatment essence to replace toner if you practice double cleansing and use something moisturizing later. If you use a cleansing toner, then use this after the cleansing toner.

Review: Aromatica Rosemary Scalp Scaling Shampoo

I bought this to make up for Althea minimum required spending to get their free shipping service. Before they lowered it to RM 99, Althea actually required that you spend at least RM 150 to be eligible for free shipping, which was a big headache for me because their shipping could be quite expensive sometimes. Since I just ran out of Innisfree Zero Shampoo and the seller I used to buy from is no longer carrying this, I just thought of giving this Aromatica one a try.

Talking about Aromatica, it is a vegen brand that uses only natural and organic ingredients. I tried their rose serum and lotion previously but sadly those were not meant for my skin. But even that, I still have a lot of faith on the brand itself which is why I gave its shampoo a try. It is a brand that just doesn't contain anything harsh, synthetic or of animal origins. It doesn't have dyes, mineral oil, paraben or anything that might show up badly on CosDNA scale. I thought maybe this all-natural shampoo will turn out well for my extremely picky and troubled scalp that needs something good?

Let's find out below to see if it works for my scalp this time!

Review: Estee Lauder Micro Essence, Advanced Night Repair, Advanced Night Repair Eye and Revitalizing Supreme

Just like Biotherm, Estee Lauder is a high-end cosmetic brand that I never expect I will one day try out their products. I have heard a lot of good reviews about their Advanced Night Repair Serum. Meejmuse also talked about the Micro Essence in her video so I was actually quite curious about this brand. But I am a bit hesitated given the price. Besides, I always have this idea that Estee Lauder is meant for more mature skin types. As such, I am very happy when I received a set of Estee Lauder miniatures from a friend who knew I love skincare. In this post, I will write about my first impression on several Estee Lauder best-selling items having used them for more than 2 weeks.

Lador Review Part 2: Lador Hydro LPP Treatment and Lador Perfect Fill-Up Ampoule

You can check out my part 1 review here.

Lador Review Part 1: Lador Tea Tree Scalp Clinic Hair Pack and Lador Scalp Scaling SPA, My Holy Grail Scalp Treatments

I am a product junkee, especially when it comes to hair care products because I have really "picky" scalp that cannot tolerate a lot of ingredients. And it gets pickier and pickier over time. I used to be doing well with Dove and L'Oreal but they itched my scalp out a lot when I was studying. My scalp is temporarily soothed after I switched to L'Oreal Paris Sulfate-Free Shampoo. However, the itchiness hits again when I switched to Dove Dandruff Shampoo after my college time was over and this time L'Oreal Paris failed even when I tried to switch back.

I tried out a bunch of shampoos and treatments during that time and finally settled down on Tsubaki Head SPA, but the shampoo dried out my hair a lot so I had to stop using it after 2 bottles. My itchy scalp problem is mitigated when I met Ryo shampoo and conditioners. And guess what... the itchiness hits again when I finished my Ryo shampoos and switched to Yungo and Aquair, both of which had failed me badly. Some of you may ask, why did I ever change my Ryo shampoos if I am doing well with it? Well, I bought my Ryo from Qoo10 and the seller is no longer carrying it so I have to look out for alternatives. And then I found Innisfree, and also Lador. In this post, we are gonna talk about Lador, a lesser-known but powerful remedies for troubled hair and scalp conditions.

How I found out about Lador? Well, to be honest, I first saw it on Fiddy Snail's Instagram "showing off" her Memebox haul. I was looking for a good scalp treatment at that back and since Fiddy is an credible reviewer I wanted to give this product a try after reading her feedback on the product. Also, its ingredients list which includes green tea, ginseng, and tea tree really intrigue me. Its minimalist packaging also gives me the confidence that this is a brand with substance that doesn't bother to attract its customers by fancy packaging. Besides, since Lador is also supplying their products for salon so I guess there should be some quality assurance here. However, I cannot find a lot of information on its official Korean website because apparently I cannot read Korean. But those information I found on Memebox website seems quite promising so I finally decided to give it a go. I got the Tea Tree Scalp Clinic Hair Pack and Perfect Fill-Up Ampoule first, and then the Hydro LPP Treatment and Scalp Scaling Spa Hair Ampoule. In this review, I will talk about all four products I got from Lador, their respective functions and performance as well as their ingredients used. I will also do a comparison among them and disclose the products that I like better and why.

This review will be broken down into two parts:

Part 1: scalp treatments, Lador Tea Tree Scalp Clinic Hair Pack and Lador Scalp Scaling SPA
Part 2: hair treatments, Lador Hydro LPP Treatment and Lador Perfect Fill-Up Ampoule

Review: Missha Line Friends Dual Blending Cushion Shadow Rose Crown

I want to talk about this cushion shadow very briefly here, so this should not be a long review. I bought this from Gmarket when Missha was having 20-50% mega sales. So, I got this at really good price at about RM 26. There were five colours in total and  I chose this because it looks prettiest and the easiest to match. But all other colours are also really pretty so you can choose the one you like the most.
