Review: Belif Moisturizing and Firming Eye Cream

Actually, I was a bit unsure which one I should go for at first, this or the Belif Peat Miracle Revital Eye Cream. This one is loved and raved by one of my favourite vloggers Meejmuse. It also has lighter and bouncier texture. But Peat Miracle one claims to reduce fine lines. I need to decide which one I want to get first because apparently I cannot buy both at the same time due to budgetary concern. Then I ended up with this having went to Belif store and trying it on my hand and face numerous times. I also claimed a sample of each of them to try it out at home. I find this more moisturizing, bouncier, and works better for my under-eye fine lines. Having used it for almost a year now, I am ready to talk about this in details!

You can also refer to my shorter review on this product here if you don't feel like reading the full review.

Belif Moisturizing and Firming Eye Cream is an emollient gel cream that is designed to provide long-lasting moisture and firmness to the delicate eye area. The skin around our eyes are thinner than other parts of the face hence is the most susceptible to wear tear. A lightweight yet highly moisturizing cream will therefore keep this area soothed and nourished and prevent the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. Eye cream is as important as skin treatment as your eye is often the reason that reveals your age!

The eye cream is housed in a simple white plastic jar. No additional money is wasted on fancy packaging. The product speaks with its own performance not its appearance. It does not come with a spatula but my advice is to always use a spatula for anything that comes in a jar.

The eye cream is quite buttery but is surprisingly fast-absorbing without leaving any sticky residue. As I always say, the lighter version of the Moisturizing Bomb!

You can see that it has turned into moist emollient on your skin.

This eye cream has a long list of ingredients. Roughly 50% of them are emollients, solvents, surfactants and so on that make up the texture and body of this product. Another half would be botanical extracts and oils. Mind you though, I am not saying that 50% of this eye cream is made of botanical ingredients, only 50% of the ingredients on the list.

Belif claims that this product is dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested hence is suitable for your delicate eye area. It is also free of mineral oil, petrolatum, synthetic preservative, dyes, and fragrances as well as animal origin ingredients... anything that might irritate you so this will work great for sensitive skin.

A lot of anti-inflammatory, emollient and antioxidants have been added into this eye cream, such as glycerin, jojoba esters, lecithin, beta-glucan, macadamia oil, panthenol, theobroma seed butter and so on. These are skin nourishing emollient and skin repairing ingredients that can fill in all tear wear and dry lines on your eye area. They work primarily to nourish and prevent the formation of more fine lines around your eyes.

There are also blend of Belif herbs like oat kernel extract, calendula flower extract, catnip extract, raspberry leaf extract, wild indigo extract, chickweed extract, lady mantle’s, pansy extract, rose, meadowsweet and so on that are also present in many other Belif products. These are mostly anti-inflammatory herbs that are designed for dry and sensitive skin. Raspberry leaf extract has additional skin tightening and toning benefits whereas lady’s mantle regulates sebum production on the skin.

The ingredient highlights here would be eyebright extract, yarrow extract, bilberry extract, and horsetail extract. Basically, they are the key ingredients that make this eye cream unique. Eyebright extract is also seen in the 360 Eye Mask as a depuffing and anti-dark circles remedy. Its high contents of iridoid glycosides, flavonoids, and tannins allow it to rapidly relief the skin of redness and swelling. Yarrow extract is the key ingredient in Belif’s The True Decoction anti-aging line. It is known for its astringent and pores minimizing effects. It works as a skin tightening and firming tool in this eye cream. Another important ingredient although only in smaller amount here is bilberry extract. Research has shown that bilberry is a potent antioxidant and is known to be beneficial for the eyes. It is also available in the form of supplement for the eyes. Finally, we have horsetail extract, a collagen-boosting ingredient rich in silicon content, a material of which collagen is synthesized. It can improve the strength and texture of the skin and is also great an anti-inflammatory remedy to any dryness or flakiness.

Now come to the most important part of this review - the performance! Having spent RM 190 on this eye cream, is it effective? Does it worth every cent you are paying for? And should you buy it? My simple answer is yes!

I have tried tonnes of eye cream, from both local and Korean brands. The most expensive one I have is Methode Swiss I bought from SASA which was completely useless. They are either too greasy, too rich, or too light. Nothing works as well as this Belif one in term of non-sticky moisturizing. It will supply just the right amount of moisture onto your skin without suffocating or overwhelming it.

In addition, it works really well to control the fine lines under my eye. I won't say that it has diminished the appearance of fine lines under my eyes but I have yet to encounter any cream that can really do that. Maybe Peat Miracle Revital Eye Cream will, once I give it a full try, but that's something we will talk about later. This Belif Moisturizing and Firming Eye Cream, despite not being very successful at getting rid of my pre-existing fine lines, works really well to prevent any new ones from forming, no matter how tired I am. I used to have 2 new fine lines in a year due to sleeplessness and work stress but not after I start using this. So that is a remarkable achievement for me already!

In short, I love, love, love how bouncy, moisturizing and lightweight this eye cream is. I have used a lot of eye creams but none actually works as well as this Belif one to do all the nourishing, soothing and fine-lines diminishing job. And don't ever think that normal moisturizer can do all the magic on your eyes as they are designed differently with different formulas to tackle other parts of your skin that is thicker. And most moisturizer I use are not nourishing enough whenever my eyes are feeling tired from excessive screen staring. If you have budgetary concern, you can go for A.H.C eye cream which is retailed at cheaper price with amazing texture. The point is, start using your eye cream from now on!
