Review: Too Cool for School Egg Mousse Pack

This product has been on the market for a while. I wasn't that keen at first, since I don't think a egg mousse pack could effectively remove sebum and dirt on the skin, at least not in the long-term. However, due to its increased popularity, I must say that I am really intrigued. There must a reason why everyone is raving about it, hence this time I will be the lab rat myself!

I don't think anyone would disagree with me if I say that this Egg Mousse Pack has the cutest packaging ever. It looks like whipped cream sold in the supermarket. However, inside, it is actually a facial mask made of egg extracts in whipped foam. The main purpose of this mask is to create a smooth and radiant complexion through its deep-cleansing and skin tightening properties. There is another cleanser version in blue packaging.

According to Too Cool for School official claims, egg white extract here is able to purify and brighten the skin whereas the yolk leaves the skin hydrated and smooth. Sounds delicious, and I personally really love to eat eggs. Can't really live without them everyday!

The Mousse Pack looks like egg too when squeezed out. You need to shake it properly before squeezing a ping pong ball size out and massage it onto your face. Use this on a dry face not wet one, and then rinse it off after 10 minutes. My skin feels clean and tight after using, but my bf with oilier skin and clogged pores don't find it tightening. This facial mask cleanses his face really well but there isn't any long-term benefits for his pores or sebaceous filaments.

INGREDIENTS

Water, Betaine, Butylene Glycol, Lauryl Phosphate, Isopentane, Trehalose, Carbon Dioxide, Arginine, Potassium Laureth Phosphate, Laureth-1 Phosphate, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Egg Yolk Extract/Extrait De Jaune D'oeuf, Albumen Extract, Dipropylene Glycol, Potassium Hydroxide, Glyceryl Caprylate, Caprylyl Glycol, Ppg-3 Caprylyl Ether, Acrylates /C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Fragrance.

INGREDIENTS ANALYSIS

As you can see, most of the ingredients are non-skin-benefiting texture ingredients. They are the ingredients that make up the whipped cream texture of this mask. Of course, they are not vases. Too Cool claims that these mousse will offer deep cleansing benefits while helping to remove excess sebum and impurities without leaving the skin tight and dry.

Apart from some minor skin soothing and moisturizing ingredients as highlighted above, i.e. betaine, trehalose, arginine, the star ingredients in this Pack are egg white and egg yolk extracts. Although they are claimed to have deep cleansing, smoothing, soothing, brightening and moisturizing effects on the skin, my own research does not breed similar findings. In fact, egg white despite its temporary wrinkles diminishing effects, does not leave any long-lasting effects after the albumen protein film of egg white is rinsed off the skin. It is like the temporary smoother skin illusion you get when you put cellophane tape on your skin. Although egg white may not be as effective as one might believe, egg yolk is indeed a emulsifying agent hence it has the ability to lift impurities and moisturize the skin.

In short, the benefits you will get from this bottle of Egg Mousse Pack are interesting mousse pack texture, deep cleansing, and some skin moisturizing benefits.

PERFORMANCE

I do agree that Too Cool for School Egg Mousse Pack is a decent wash-off mask to clear dirt and impurities from the pores. My skin is visibly smoother and cleaner after using although my pores are not tightened and my skin feels really dry. My bf fares better with this mousse pack since he got oilier skin and this mousse pack has helped to deep cleanse his skin while not drying it out. Apart from that, I don't find there is anything too special about this mask. Of course, at RM 35 (sold price at Hermo and Althea), this is a really great deal for its deep cleansing property, heavenly scent and beautiful packaging, as long as you don't expect any long-term benefits from it.
