Review: It's Skin Prestige Foam D'escargot

This is my 3rd review on the It's Skin snail line, maybe I will do a forth one soon on the toner and emulsion pair. Actually, I bought this foam cleanser after I was really impressed by the snail cream which I have reviewed earlier. I was curious is this foam cleanser as good as the snail cream. Besides the price is not that high at about RM 50 per 150ml for something as nutritive and quality as this.

The packaging of the It's Skin Prestige Foam D'escargot. Glamorous I would say, not just the look but also the presentation and even the name of it.

This is claimed to be an anti-aging foam cleanser with firming, relaxing, smoothing and moisturizing properties. It is formulated with pine mushroom and maitake mushroom extract to gently remove dead skin wells while its snail secretion filtrate softens and repairs the skin. The epidermal growth factor (EGF) inside also promotes the growth of new surface cells to give the skin a smooth and soft appearance.

INGREDIENTS

Glycerin, Sorbitol, Water, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Myristic Acid, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Potassium Hydroxide, Glyceryl Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Fragrance, Betaine, Peg-100 Stearate, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Disodium EDTA, PEG-32, Tricholoma Matsutake Extract, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Pseudoal Teromonas Ferment Extract

INGREDIENTS ANALYSIS

This cleanser has normal cleansing agents used in most other cheaper foam cleansers I see, like stearic acid, lauric acid, myristic acid, sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, cocamidopropyl betaine etc.

The beneficial ingredients here are betaine, snail secretion filtrate, songyi mushroom, anti-aging peptide and antarcticine.

Betaine is a humectant and skin soothing ingredient which offers superior hydration to the skin without residual stickiness associated with most moisturizing ingredient. Antarcticine is a strain of bacteria found in the mud of King George Island in Antarctica and is considered a type of peptide with skin regeneration, moisture retention and elasticity producing properties. Other ingredients are mostly anti-oxidants, anti-aging, moisturizing and repairing agents like snail secretion filtrate, songyi mushroom, and wrinkles-care peptide Acetyl Hexapeptide-8.

Nothing special or outstanding about this cleanser but again I am not expecting too much so I am okay with the ingredients.

TEXTURE

Just like most foam cleanser, this has a creamy and pasty texture. It is very easy to foam up, producing rich and bouncy bubbles. The bubbles are not too fine but feel really moisturizing on the skin. I think finer bubbles work better for deep cleansing and sebum controlling.

This smells floral though less strong than the It's Skin Prestige Creme D'escargot one. Cleansing your face with this feels deeply relaxing and enticing which I thoroughly enjoy.

PERFORMANCE

Actually it is very weird to talk about the performance of a foam cleanser because after all, the only thing your cleanser do is to cleanse your face. Of course, there are many types of foam cleanser, some works better at deep-cleansing, some offers additional skin benefits and some focuses on moisturizing and soothing for drier and sensitive skin types.

For most skin types, what matters the most is would be the pH of the cleanser because high pH may disturb the moisture barrier of the skin, causing troubles like dehydration or even acne. You want to avoid any cleanser that leaves your skin feeling tight and uncomfortable after cleansing, especially if you have oilier skin. A good cleanser should properly cleanse your face without stripping its natural oil and protective barrier too much.

This particular one has a pH of 7.0. May not be optimal for some people who prefer somewhere between 5.0 to 6.0 but works OK on my skin. It doesn't feel stripping, dry nor uncomfortable. My skin doesn't get oily after using this even if I don't put anything immediately after.

A nutritive, nourishing and moisturizing cleansing experience, I would say.

CONCLUSION

In short, this is a decent, nutritive, nourishing and moisturizing foam cleanser meant to be used after your cleansing oil. It really does its major claims - to repair, moisturize, smooth and rejuvenate the skin, but the effects are not as impressive than my favourites Belif Creamy Moist Cleansing Foam so I'm gonna stick with that one for now. Having said that, this is a good foam cleanser but is probably not my repurchase after I finished this up.
