I think I am going to make this a routine, sharing my sheet masks review every one or two months. Skincare and Makeup Regrets 2015: Product Empties that I'll Not Repurchase

I find that reviewing about products that I'll not repurchase is as important, or even more important than reviewing about products that I'll repurchase. At least, it gives my readers a good sense about things that you should avoid or be extra careful before making any buying decision.

My 2015 lists of products that I'll not repurchase are products I finished using in 2015. This includes any good but not-suitable-for-me products, only so-so products, and badly formulated products. This list does not include some products I am not entirely sure will I repurchase in the future, the products in this list are things I am quite sure I will not repurchase in the future unless its qualities attract me some times in the future... which I think is quite unlikely.

Vitality of Sprout Energy: A Review of 29 Primera Products Part 1

Today, I'll be introducing you guys to another natural skincare brand called Primera. Unlike Belif which utilizes herbs, Innisfree with its Jeju secrets or Whamisa with its double fermentation, Primera is unique in the way that it utilizes the sprout energy of germination - the vital energy released the moment seed grows into sprout.

As the name suggests, Primera is a combination of "prime" and "era", signaling the critical moment when a seed releases all its energy, breaks through barriers and soils, before growing into a beautiful plant. If you've seen sprouting or birth-giving, you'll be touched by the moment when new life is brought into the world - growth.

Basically,  Primera is an eco brand like Whamisa, Belif and Innisfree. It is Amore Pacific's version of the LG's Belif, which targets individuals in their late 20s and 30s. The brand itself is very pure, suitable even for pregnant women, with only health and personal care products. They even have a CC cushion for babies! How cool is that?

Primera has not landed in Malaysia yet, maybe it takes some time as the brand is still relatively new in Korea with only a handful outlets, but I am hoping that they will come here soon with of course good price tags like Innisfree.

Since Primera has not made its way to Malaysia yet, I got most of my Primera products through Korean online retailers like Testerkorea, Koreadepart and Gmarket. Althea Korea is also carrying some, so as some 11street sellers.

Full list of products discussed below:

  • Primera Miracle Seed Essence
  • Primera Facial Mild Peeling
  • Primera Seed Energy Cleansing Oil
  • Primera Super Sprout Serum
  • Primera Super Sprout Cream
  • Primera Alpine Berry Watery Cream
  • Primera Watery Oil-Free Gel Cream
  • Primera Organience Water
  • Primera Organience Emulsion
  • Primera Organience Cure Eye Cream
  • Primera Skin Relief UV Protector SPF50+ PA+++

Sheet Mask Review Episode 2: December 2015 Facial Mask Collection

Hi guys! I shared in my previous post about the importance of sheet-masking. As effective as it is as a quick skin remedy, sheet mask is definitely not something new to the Asian beauty market, but could be quite novel or even confusing for the Western society. At least, I have seen sheet masks literally everywhere in local Malaysian drugstore, but never actually in any of Canadian ones (some 3-5 years ago). I found some in TnT Supermarket in Vancouver, but that was an Asian grocery store anyway.

So, I guess it would be interesting to write about my masking experience in English, since there are enough information about sheet mask in Mandarin or even Malays already. Enough with the intro, let's cut straight to our masks today.

Here is a list of all the sheet masks I used in December 2015:

  • My Scheming Hot Spring Water Moisturizing Mask (我的心機 溫泉水活膚潤澤面膜)
  • Aritaum Sheabutter Mask
  • RegenCos 2-Step Synergy Effect Mask #Moisturizing
  • Kao SPA eye mask #camomile #rose
  • My Beauty Diary Damask Rose Mask (我的美麗日記 大馬士革玫瑰面膜) x 2
  • Freeset Donkey Milk Skin Gel Mask Pack #Aqua

Review: Kose Sekkisei Lotion, Liquid Wash, Emulsion and Clear Whitening Mask

February has always been a busy month for me. Chinese New Year, workload, and housework are all piling up. Hence, I have not been hunting for new products this month, which is perfect because I just received a beautiful Valentine's Day gift from Kose! Love you soooo much, Kose. Soranghey~

Carolyn's Best of Beauty 2015: My Favourite Skincare and Makeup Picks

This is a very belated 2015 favourites, but I thought I should still share them with you guys. 2015 is an important year for me, as I enthusiastically dig into loads of Korean skincare brands. This is a year where I almost broke my bank, having purchased hypes of different products just to explore and compare. Even my friends couldn't understand my obsession. I move all the way from the cheaper brands like Holika Holika, Skinfood, Nature Republic, Tony Moly, Innisfree to the middle-upper rangers like Laneige, IOPE, Primera, Belif, Hanyul and then some high-end ones like SUM:37, Sulwhasoo, Hera and The History of Whoo. This is definitely a year of massive exploration and learning.

So, let see what products I opened (I still have stuffs that I bough but did not open) and loved in 2015. Here go my muses:

★★★★★ my holy grail
★★★★    I enjoy using it but this is not yet my holy g
★★★       I somewhat enjoy using this but feel that it is a "meh" with better alternatives out there
★★          I don't enjoy using this; something about its qualities really turn me off
★             Gosh, why did I ever buy this? What a waste of money!
